What could be the implications of Katy Perry edging out Taylor Swift as Forbes' top-paid female in music 2018 may appeal to those who enjoy low-grade pop-battle. It's further down Forbes' ranking of 10 that the intrigue really is and there is a possibility of a challenger. In the 8th spot, just behind Rihanna and ahead of both Celine Dion, and Britney Spears is Helene Fischer. Who? A Russian-German star that is extremely slack-jawed and tries to keep her image as being a "normal female". In her extensive interviews she only mentions she loves artisanal butter. Her lover, a German TV star was also amazed to see her tattooed face on his forearm. Fischer 34, in more tame biographical terms is the superstar for Germanys Schlager scene. The music is oriented in two different directions. The second song is a more bierhalle rhythm that focuses on the topics of booze girls as well as the German. Fischer is a perfect example: the loyal woman whose heart beats in a trance, her breathing slows after hearing about how her husband plays up the female weaknesses of his wife to trigger protection feelings. Schlager turned to more traditional songs in order to combat the western pop which had swept through Germany. This is due to the popularity it has with Baby Boomers as well as beyond. Fischer hosts a Schlager Christmas Special each year. It is a pompous All-Star revue that rivals the Channel 4's club X. Schlager is a country music show with roots and down-home appeal is the spiritual counterpart to the genre. Its raucous synth-pop style makes it as though she was German Taylor Swift. Swifts pop-evolution made Swift cool. But it's hard to say how little the reviewers love Fischers completely awful music.
